Pictures from October 2004

Since volleyball season is over, I now have time to tackle some things I have been putting off over the summer.  This past weekend we bought 90 bags of mulch and 250 feet of weed block and redid practically all of our landscaped beds.  It was a dirty, sweaty job but it made a big difference in the way stuff looked.  I'm hoping the effort will pay off with greatly reduced amounts of time required to weed the beds. We moved a bunch of plants around, threw some out and tried to take all plants that dropped leaves OFF the lanai to stop them from either getting eaten by Nicki or finding their way to the bottom of the pool. I also included a few miscellaneous pictures like a dozen roses I got for Ali at the grocery store that turned out to be the nicest roses I ever saw. We converted the cabinet that was between the birds into a laundry/medicine cabinet and moved it into our room.  We replaced the big cabinet with a little one for the birds. I also included our Halloween outfits. Hover over images for a text description. Click on thumbnail to see larger image.

We made a mini cactus garden, the big one used to be by the mailbox Right outside the west door of the pool cage We replaced a citronella plant that dropped leaves with an acacia palm The "color" landscape bed on west side of house The wireless garage door keypad I installed a couple weeks ago One of the borders around the palms in the front
The border around the front palms, this was filled with fire ants The cactus was removed and the grassy plants from beside the house went here View up the driveway right after we got done mowing The butterfly garden and foxtail palm That plant was in the strip behind the pool We removed the plants that were all bushy and nasty looking
I put down fabric in this area months ago but never mulched it, looks good now The big fountain grass was pulled and replaced with the grassy stuff that used to be right beside the pool This side is rather bare right now but that is better than being filled with weeds This used to be inside the lanai, now it lives in this corner This desert rose also used to be inside the lanai The orchard was a weed nightmare before we redid it.
The pond has a dollar tree that also used to be on the lanai The queen palm bed was also redone This is where the fountain grass got relocated to We fluffed the rose bed and applied a fresh layer of mulch Looking out the east side screen door Looking towards the shed and covered garden
